Let´s not forgett that the EU, (and its forerunners), have kept the peace in Central and Western Europe now for 60 years. This peace is now threatened because of economic difficulties and shortsightedness that reflects the fact that generations today have forgotten the consequences off unchecked strife and then war. Of course we continue to negotiate with this, our biggest and by far the most important , economic and cultural counterpart. and ally. If they do not do allright, how will we then fare??
And if we think that we will do better by not doing so because of this period off economical depression, then let´s not forget how we managed to crash on our own in 2008.
Nothing has actually changed but people are bewildered and scared.
I firmly believe that we Icelanders need the stability that joining the EU will give us in the long run.
